First Tom Welling “Smallville” (2001-2011) confirms that indeed he is going to be involved on tv’s big Multiverse event which concludes during the final season of Arrow. Now word is Erica Durance is also set to Return As Lois Lane For ‘Crisis On Infinite Earths’ she played the role on tv with Welling for half the shows decade long run when she was introduced as the legendary Lois Lane.
The role of Lois Lane has previously been played over the years in live action by: Margot Kidder (Superman – Movie), Bitsie Tulloch (Supergirl – TV), Kate Bosworth (Superman Returns – Movies), Noel Neill (Adventures of Superman – TV), Erica Durance (Smallville – TV), Teri Hatcher (Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman – TV)

This news has already excited the fanbase like probably never seen before. I watched all 10 seasons of the show Smallville, and I’m a big fan. I’ve introduced friends who never seen it, and were not Superman fans to it, and they have liked the show. The show is why we’re seeing so many “Superhero” shows on tv these days. A Decade of a show like Smallville shows you that there is a tv market for these things, and not just a BIG SCREEN event film is always needed to tell a good story.
Watching young Clark Kent take his steps towards eventually becoming Superman, and those he met, and befriended during his journey was a fun ride, and to hear that both Tom & Erica are returning to the roles which made them famous is a great move both P.R wise by the network but as the Multiverse story, and it’s fantastic for us fans. Now I hope we get to see Welling in full Superman suit, and it’s not some cop out that he’s only Clark Kent or something.
Both Brandon Routh who played Superman on the film Superman Returns will feature as “Kingdom Come Superman” and tv’s other Superman who has been in episodes on the WBs Supergirl Tyler Hoechlin are also set to reprise the Superman role with Brandon playing an alternate version being the one exception his won’t be the Superman of his movie “Superman Returns” but again he’s playing Superman from the “Kingdom Come.”
Hoechlin and Routh are already part of the Arrowverse – the former playing Superman in Supergirl and the latter playing The Atom in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow – so their involvement in the crossover isn’t a major surprise (although Routh reprising a movie role for a TV series is particularly interesting), but Welling hasn’t been involved in the CW for quite some time.
During this past San Diego Comic-Con, The CW announced that Brandon Routh will officiate return as Superman in the upcoming Crisis on Infinite Earths Arrowverse crossover. This makes the first time that Brandon Routh will return to the cape and red trunks since his first go in Superman Returns. Brandon Routh never got a chance to play Superman again in a sequel to that film, but he’s getting the opportunity to play the Kingdom Come version of the Man of Steel in the upcoming crossover.
This folks is going to be EPIC! Can’t wait to see this thing unfold…
