So Dan and Kevin Hageman who wrote the scripts for “The Lego Movie,” and “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” will write the script for a Netflix adaptation of the classic 1980s arcade game “Dragon’s Lair” and Deadpool star himself “Ryan Reynolds” is in talks to both star in and produce the feature.
Now for close to a year of negotiations, Netflix finally inked the deal to pick up the rights to the property with Ryan Reynolds, Roy Lee, Don Bluth, Gary Goldman, Trevor Engelson and Jon Pomeroy producing.
The story of a knight named “Dirk the Daring” must rescue the fetching Princess Daphne from the clutches of the evil dragon known as Singe and the wizard Mordroc. At one point this was about the most popular game in America, and the game boasted movie-style animation from Don Bluth who then went on to direct “An American Tail” and “All Dogs Go to Heaven”. Two of my favorite animated films ever so this to me is amazing news!
I’m a major fan of the work by everyone here, and as most who know I’ve been a big Ryan Reynolds fan for years! From the “Two Guys and a Girl” show to his movies like Waiting, and so on. But it’s Deadpool he’s mostly loved for even tho I will say his acting in the Pikachu movie was pretty hilarious, and loved him in that also. SO with that said I cannot wait for this as I’m also a fan of the game, and grew up playing it so this should be very neat indeed.
