Since the days of Dan Marino there not been this level of excitement in Miami over them drafting a QB at number 1, and with the Draft right now being about the only thing exciting happening in sports with the Covid19 and all. It’s good to see the FINS finally make a good move, and draft a franchise changing talent. This kid will become a star before he takes his first pro snap, and he will hopefully be ready in a year or two to fully take over as the lead QB. With that said I don’t think the plan is to start him right away but to start him in about a year so he could develop, learn the system, and perhaps get over any nagging injuries he might have had.
With that said the Dolphins wasted no time in picking No. 1, (goes No. 5 overall) Tua Tagovailoa. Now there was talk about the Dolphins trying to trade up to the top pick in the draft in order to select quarterback Joe Burrow in recent weeks and General Manager Chris Grier confirmed the team spoke to the Bengals when he met with the media on Thursday night.
The ESPN 2020 NFL Draft crew describes how the Miami Dolphins have been struggling at the quarterback position since the days of Dan Marino, then they throw it over to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who reveals the Dolphins have taken former Alabama Crimson Tide QB Tua Tagovailoa with the No. 5 overall pick.
